Amman, A joint operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) resulted in the arrest of 17 wanted persons and drug dealers, and the seizure of firearms and narcotics.
Spokesperson of the Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement that the AND and CID raided several homes in Na'ur, south of the capital, and apprehended six suspects who were in possession of narcotics. It was later found that four of them were wanted.
In Russeifa, 11 people, some wanted and some suspected of drug abuse and dealing, were nabbed yesterday. Police seized a firearm during the raid.
A drug trafficker was caught with some 4,000 narcotic pills in Mafraq, while another person was apprehend with a firearm and an amount of narcotic pills in his possession.
In Zarqa, a police patrol car pulled over a vehicle before arresting two individuals who had two palm-sized sheets of hashish and narcotic pills, while a drug dealer in Irbid was apprehended after a raid was carried out on his home.
Police are investigating the suspects to refer them to the State Security Court (SSC).
