Twenty-five people were rescued, while three others remain missing, after an oil tanker caught fire off Malaysia’s southern coast, Malaysian maritime authorities said Tuesday.
Thick, black smoke engulfed the Gabon-flagged ship when the fire broke out northeast of Tanjung Sedili coast on Monday during its journey from China to Singapore, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said in a statement.
Three crew members remain missing, MMEA said.
Singaporean authorities identified the ship as the MT Pablo.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, the MMEA said.
