Amman, The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has qualified six international companies to implement the project to produce wind power by 50 MW under its third phase of direct proposal submission.
The list of qualified bidders for the tender include the ACWA Power Globar Services (APGS), Lamsa Investment PSC/EP/ Global Energy LTD, Mass Energy Group Holding, RP Global Autraia GmbH-Catalyst Investment (Guernsey) Ltd Consortium, SAM GREEN POWER SA, and Alcazar Energy Partners.
In a press statement on Monday, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zwati, said the ministry will soon consider the financial proposals of the six companies to choose the best bidder to raise share of wind energy in the total energy mix to 667 MW of the overall renewable energy currently produced in the Kingdom.
The combined generation capacity of renewable energy projects by the end of 2018 reached around 1130 MW and is expected to rise to 2,400 MW by 2021.
The Ministry also carried out solar energy projects. The second stage can reach 200 megawatts by 50 megawatts per project, all of which have entered the commercial operation stage, three in the Mafraq Development Zone and one in Safawi, where the solar power include Maan projects with capacity of 150 MW, expected to enter the operational phase in 2020.
