A call for an urgent meeting of the Security Council to discuss the bombing of Gaza

France and China, the permanent members of the UN Security Council, and the UAE, a non-permanent member of the Council, called for an urgent closed meeting of the Security Council today, Wednesday, to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip.

The account of the UAE Permanent Mission to the United Nations said on Twitter: “The UAE, France and China called on the Security Council to hold an emergency closed meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the worrisome developments in the Gaza Strip.”

This comes as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, during his meeting with the Russian special envoy for the settlement process in the Middle East, Vladimir Safrenkov, called on the Security Council to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of 15 citizens, including 4 children and 4 women, and the injury of at least 20, in a series of raids launched by Israeli warplanes at dawn on Tuesday, on homes and apartments in different areas of the Strip.

Israeli warplanes and other drones targeted a number of buildings and apartments in the cities of Gaza, Rafah, Khan Yunis, and the center and north of the Strip.
