ABU DHABI, The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) hosted the last meeting of the Abu Dhabi Research Committee of COVID-19 in 2022, before forming a new one to handle public health research affairs next year.

The meeting witnessed personal attendance of members and subcommittees members for the first time since the pandemic, to report on the latest findings of their pandemic research, as well as highlighting their efforts in the past two years.

On this occasion Dr. Farida Al Hosani, Executive Director of Infectious Disease in ADPHC, and Abu Dhabi Research Committee Chairman, said, “The UAE has been able to be among the world’s leading countries in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also adopted a top-notch cooperation and scientific research approach to control any potential public health challenges. As the Chairman of the national COVID-19 Research Committee, I had the honour of leading a team of dedicated professionals who are expanding the UAE’s research capabilities and making our nation’s future healthier and more prosperous.”

He explained that the committee’s goal is to boost research collaboration between health care professionals, academics and pharmaceutical companies to expedite COVID-19 research and translate it into policy and a public health response. “It is divided into four subcommittees dealing with different aspects of research: Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Institutional Review Board,” he added.
