Amman, Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) exports increased during the first 8 months of 2019, reaching JD2.989 billion, compared to JD2.726 during the same period in 2018, driven by rising exports in most industrial sectors.
Figures released by the chamber showed that India, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Iraq accounted for more than half of this year’s exports, totaling JD1.578 billion.
ACI exports were distributed between the mining industries, with a total value of JD786 million, chemical and cosmetic products at JD623 million, medical equipment at JD374 million, leather and garment at JD334 million, and food, agriculture and livestock at JD294 million.
Other exports, such as engineering, information technology and electricity services reached JD264 million, packaging, paper, and office supplies at JD148 million, plastic and rubber at JD117 million, while the wood and furniture industries stood at JD10 million.
