Amman, The Ministry of Agriculture denied presence of locusts on the Jordanian territory, and footages on the social media refer to insects that are similar to locusts, or some kind of butterflies, and grasshoppers.

"The ministry is still working on tracking any changes in locusts and has full readiness to deal with it," Ministry of Agriculture spokesman Lawrence Majali told "Petra" on Sunday, calling on seeking accuracy in this regard.

Grasshoppers are local insects that do not have a negative impact on crops and feed on weeds and grasses and move in groups, he said, adding "the spread of grasshoppers is due to the high level of rain precipitation this year, which led to the hatching of a high percentage of eggs."
