ABU DHABI, Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, discussed today with U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, international efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis and end the suffering of the people there.
During the meeting, Dr. Gargash praised the efforts of the U.S. and the international community to address the Yemeni situation, stressing the need to achieve a peaceful settlement of the crisis and to enhance the chances of a permanent ceasefire to pave the way for a comprehensive political solution.
He added that the international community should urge all Yemeni parties to start a serious dialogue that includes all segments of society to end the war and take the country out of the crisis. This will spare the Yemeni people more of the suffering to which they have been exposed for years.
Dr. Gargash affirmed the UAE’s support for the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen to establish peace and bring stability and prosperity to Yemen.
Lenderking briefed Dr. Gargash on the U.S. efforts to end the crisis in Yemen and enhance the chances of reaching a comprehensive political solution. Gargash praised his role in this regard For his part, the U.S. envoy commended the UAE’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and support all efforts made by various regional and international parties to put an end to the war in Yemen.
