Azaiza, EBRD director discuss joint transport projects

Minister of Transport, Wajih Azaiza, on Thursday discussed with Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Philip ter Woort, issues of mutual interest in the transport field, the latest developments in Jordan’s transport sector projects and the bank’s mechanism to assist the ministry in achieving its goals.

Azaiza briefed Woort on the ministry’s strategy and its priority projects, such as the urban transport project in Irbid and Zarqa governorates, national railway network and Jordan’s smart transportation systems.

Discussions also went over EBRD’s initiatives aimed at helping Jordan’s public transport operators keep pace with the sector developments, in addition to the ministry’s interest in the “green” transport plan, which is implemented in coordination with environment and energy ministries, according to the ministry statement.
