Bangladeshi ambassador stresses ties with Jordan

Ambassador of Bangladesh in Amman Nahida Sobhan emphasized that her country and Jordan maintain strong relations and cooperation in various domains.

During a ceremony held on Tuesday by the Bangladesh embassy in Amman celebrating the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence, the ambassador presented her country’s achievements, stressing that Bangladesh is considered as a role model of development in various fields including education, health, agriculture, information, technology, women’s empowerment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Sobhan also pointed out in the ceremony, which was attended by a number of Jordanian officials, journalists and dignitaries, that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, dreamed of a “Golden Bengal” to make Bangladesh free from hunger, poverty, illiteracy and communalism.

Bangladesh’s garment export ranks second in the world, the envoy indicated, saying that her country is now self-sufficient in food and fish production and it has been possible to lift 6 million people out of poverty since 2010.

The participants praised the development and growth achieved by Bangladesh, noting that competent leadership is an essential priority for the development of any state and that the economic development of Bangladesh is the result of right direction of its leadership and the sincere efforts of its peoples.
