The Cabinet, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, during the regular meeting held yesterday morning at its seat at the Amiri Diwan, approved a draft law on fireworks and referred it to Shura Council.
The draft has been prepared to address many of the drawbacks in the use of fireworks, their security problems, and the harm they may cause as a result of misuse.
As per the draft law, import, export, trade, manufacture, possession, acquisition, storage, transfer or use of fireworks listed in the first and second tables attached to this law without a permit from the competent authority are prohibited.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved a draft law on transparency, which was prepared by the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, to achieve the highest indicators of integrity and transparency, to keep abreast of global developments in this regard and to improve performance in the government sector.
The Cabinet also took necessary actions for the issuance of a draft law to approve the State's general budget for the fiscal year 2019, after reviewing the recommendation of the Shura Council on the draft law.
