Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Breeders Cup Announce New Partnership

London, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and Breeders’ Cup, one of Thoroughbred horseracing’s most prestigious international events today announced a new partnership. The first of its kind for the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, the Thoroughbred horseracing brands will exchange presenting sponsor titles at their respective championship races � HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s Sword Festival at Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in San Diego, California.

The partnership will launch next month when Breeders’ Cup is named a presenting sponsor of the Breeders’ Cup Dukhan Sprint at HH the Emir’s Sword Festival, a three-day horse racing festival which takes place in Doha on February 23, 24 and 25, 2017.

Following the race, Breeders’ Cup will present the trophy to the race winner.

“We are thrilled to take this next step in expanding our relationship with the renowned Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club,” said Breeders’ Cup President and CEO Craig Fravel. “As we look to ways to elevate our international presence with similar caliber thoroughbred racing leaders around the world, the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club is a natural fit. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship and encouraging the international Thoroughbred community to support and race in Qatar.” At the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club will be the sponsor of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes on Saturday, November 4th at Del Mar. Additionally, a Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club representative will present the trophy for the race.

The 34th running of the Breeders’ Cup will make history as it makes its debut at the iconic Del Mar Thoroughbred Club � Where the Turf Meets the Surf Southern California style. San Diego’s vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches and sunny days offer an exciting backdrop for the 2017 event.

The Breeders’ Cup administers the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s year-end Championships.

The Breeders’ Cup also administers the Breeders’ Cup Challenge qualifying series, which provides automatic starting positions into the Championships races.

The 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, consisting of 13 (grade I) races with purses and awards totalling $28 million, will be held Nov. 3-4 at Del Mar in San Diego, CA and will be televised live by the NBC Sports Group.
