Amman, The impact of the wet and cold air mass will intensify Thursday, pushing temperatures down and bringing chilly conditions with cloudy skies and rainfall in most parts of the country, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Rainfall is expected to be heavy accompanied by thunder and hail, which may form floods in the valleys and low lands including the city of Aqaba.

Snow is also expected in the southern hilly areas, the northern and central parts, while winds will be westerly brisk picking up at times to reach 70-80 km/h, stirring dust in the desert, it added.

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman, the northern and southern cities will hover around 6 degrees Celsius, dropping down to 2, 4 and 0 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 17 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 10, the JMD explained.

Cold and partly cloudy conditions will continue over the weekend, with scattered showers, especially in the northern regions with northwesterly to brisk winds, the JMD added.
