Beijing, China's consumer price inflation accelerated to a six-month high in April driven by strong gains in food prices, while the producer price inflation quickened at its fastest pace in four months, official data showed Thursday.
The consumer-price index rose 2.5% in April, compared with a 2.3% growth in March, the highest level since last October, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics said.
Food prices rose 6.1% in April, the strongest pace in three years, after climbing 4.1% the previous month, it added.
On a month-to-month basis, consumer inflation edged up 0.1% in April, while it tumbled 0.4% in March.
The producer-price index rose 0.9% in April, compared with a 0.4% gain in March, the statistics bureau said.
