Chinese Foreign Ministry: Cooperation between Beijing and Moscow is not directed against a third party

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed on Tuesday that Russia-China cooperation is not directed against third countries.

The Chinese’s official statement came upon commenting on Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s visit to Beijing to participate in the Russia-China business forum.

“China has been developing normal trade and economic cooperation with all countries of the world, including Russia, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit,” Ning was quoted by the Xinhua news agency in a press briefing as saying.

She added, “Russian-Chinese cooperation is not directed against third parties and is not subject to their influence.”

The Chinese spokeswoman noted that her country “always opposes unilateral sanctions that are extraterritorial, which have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the Security Council.”

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in China for a visit to participate in the Russia-China Business Forum and hold several meetings with Chinese leaders.

The visit will begin in Shanghai, where Mishustin would give a speech at the Russia-China Business Forum and meet with several heads of prominent companies in both countries.

The Russian prime minister will head to Beijing, where he would meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping and hold talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, according to the Information Office of the Russian Cabinet.

During the visit, current issues of economic and trade cooperation between Russia and China are expected to be discussed.
