The first National Conference for Muslim Women, organized today,Sunday, by the National Committee for Women, concluded in Sana’a.
Participants in the conference recommended making Fatima Al-Zahra’s birth day an international day for Muslim women and making it a role model for women.
Participants called on to work to reorganize the National Committee for Women and amend its organizational regulations in accordance with the nature of the tasks and objectives for which it was established.
Recommendations pointed out the importance of creating a database on the health status of Yemeni women and health care level provided to them, and working to qualify a female cadre specialized in the field of reproductive medicine and surgery for reproductive tumors in women.
The participants called for the need to establish a culture indicates that the issue of violence directed at women is not part of the morals of the Quranic culture.
The recommendations stressed the need to allocate a programmatic space for women and
children to raise their awareness and work to activate the participation of female media professionals in developing media strategies.
The conference reviewed two working papers. The first, presented by Wafa Farea, addressed ‘Women’s Rights between Islamic Sharia and International and Legal Covenants,’ while the second paper, presented by Sahar Al-Zuhairi, discussed ‘The Importance of Developing Yemeni Women’s Political Awareness.’
The closing included flashes about the suffering of Yemeni and Palestinian women.
