The "Diplomacy Ambassadors" began their international tour, as part of the "Our Ambassadors Programme 2018," which was launched by the Ministry of Education.

The programme aims to enrich the experience of Emirati school students and provide them with key skills and knowledge, to help reach the ministry's goal of creating future generations who have mastered the skills of the 21st century and are armed with unique and diverse experiences.

The tour's schedule, which was approved by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes visits to Harvard University and Georgetown University in the United States.

The students will also experience diplomatic work through the Model United Nations Programme, which will teach them to present and deal with issues during international events, as well as about voting mechanisms and other related practices. Further, they will join specialist sessions and workshops on diplomatic affairs, under the supervision of leading specialists and teachers.

The programme is part of the ministry's efforts to train future members of the diplomatic corps, according to a joint cooperation agreement with the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, EDA, with the aim of benefiting from the experience of the academy, its staff and lecturers.

The academy's staff will teach the students, as well as evaluate their progress and diplomatic skills at the end of the programme.

The programme is a platform for preparing young Emiratis who wish to work in the diplomatic corps, and will provide its members with the opportunity to learn about international work through specialist organisations. It will also enable the students to learn about key issues that now occupy international agendas, such as climate change and global warming, as well as cultural and humanitarian issues.

Additionally, the students will learn about the work of international organisations, the limits of their influence, the means of reaching decisions, as well as their stages before being adopted and implemented. The programme will teach the students many key skills, including the art of dialogue, listening to others and accepting different opinions, as well as broadening their knowledge about other cultures, through their interactions with peers from other countries.
