Discussing WHO interventions in Hajjah

The Director General of the Health and Population Office in Hajjah, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, and the emergency and injury specialist at the World Health Organization discussed today the organization’s interventions in the province.

The meeting, which included the global health coordinators in the Health Office in Hodeidah, Dr. Ahmed Al-Soufi, the emergency department, Dr. Abdullah Salem, and the health sub-cluster, Dr. Abdullah Zuhairi, reviewed the urgent needs of the health sector in a number of directorates.

The meeting reviewed the need for the emergency complex in the Republican Hospital and the possibility of expanding intervention in it, as well as rehabilitating the central laboratory building.

At the meeting, the Director of the Health Office, Dr. Al-Kohlani, praised the efforts made by the organization in supporting the health sector and alleviating suffering.

He stressed the importance of integrating efforts to cover the shortage of solutions, supplies and medicines in a number of health facilities and departments.

Al-Kohlani also stressed the importance of expanding the organization’s interventions to cover the deficit caused by the withdrawal of a number of humanitarian partners, pointing out that interventions in the health sector represent only 30 percent of the real need.

In addition, the director of the health office in the province and the organization’s team were briefed on the needs of the burn center.

The organization’s team emphasized its keenness to complete the center’s support and operation, in a manner that enables it to perform its role in alleviating suffering to the fullest.

While Dr. Al-Ashwal appreciated the support provided by the World Health Organization to rehabilitate, equip and operate the center.
