The draw, which was held at AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, placed holders Japan in Group B, where they face 2015 third placed team Korea Republic, Australia and Vietnam.

Each group will play a one-round league, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the semifinals. The two winners of the semifinals will advance to the final, while the two losing teams will contest third and fourth place.

The tournament will be played from October 18 to 25 in Nanjing, China.

The top three ranked teams in China will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (France 2018).

Meanwhile, the draw for AFC U-16 Women’s Championship resulted in Thailand, the hosts of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017, being drawn with China in Group A along with Korea Republic and Laos.

Title holders, DPR Korea will play with 2015 second-placed Japan, Australia and Bangladesh.

The tournament will be played in Chonburi, Thailand from Sept. 10 to 23.
