Earthquake Hits Isfahan in Central Iran

An earthquake measuring 4.1 magnistude on the Richter scale struck the cities of Aran and Bidgol in Isfahan province, central Iran.

The Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran reported that the tremor occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers in the Sefiddasht district of Isfahan Province.

So far, there have been no reports of damage from the earthquake.

Iran is exposed to earthquakes and tremors from time to time due to its location over a major fault zone. The most violent earthquake was the 7.7 magnitude quake which struck the provinces of Gilan and Zanjan in 1990, killing 37,000 people and injuring 100,000 others.
