East Timor adopts Document on Human Fraternity as national document

DILI, José Ramos-Horta, President of East Timor, expressed his happiness at the decision made by his country’s parliament to adopt the Document on Human Fraternity as a national document and its integration into the school curriculum.

In his speech during his inauguration ceremony as President of East Timor, Ramos-Horta highlighted his happiness at his re-election, highlighting his pride at the role he played in the document’s adoption.

He also stressed that the UAE and East Timor share the same values of human fraternity and solidarity, to create a world free from conflict, war and violence.

Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, said the decision will enhance East Timor’s stature as a country that promotes coexistence, expressing his hope that more countries would follow its example.

President Ramos-Horta, who was a member of the judging committee of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in 2022 and is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, believes in the values of human fraternity and possesses the will to follow through on promoting these values, Abdelsalam added.
