Egypt, Greece urge immediate ceasefire in Sudan

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry and his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias on Tuesday warned of the graveness of the current situation in Sudan, and called for an immediate ceasefire there.

This came in a phone conversation between both ministers, which focused on the latest developments of Syria, along with Egyptian-Greek cooperation, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a press statement.

Both ministers underlined that it is essential to deal with the existing conflict in Sudan as being an internal affair, and that any foreign interference would impede ongoing efforts to contain the crisis, according to the statement.

They, further, stressed that coordination should continue in the coming period in the context of promoting and maintaining joint political consultations about significant issues of mutual interest, it added.
