Emirati women gain confidence and recognition since federation until today: Hessa Buhumaid

DUBAI, Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, has said that Emirati women inspire women of the world with accomplishments in various fields.

On the occasion of the Emirati Women’s Day, Buhumaid said that Emirati women lead aspirations for a future full of creativity and sustainability based on the confidence of the UAE leadership led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Hessa Buhumaid congratulated H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), “Mother of the Nation,” on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, under the theme “Inspiring Reality, Sustainable Future”.

She stated that the theme reflects the confidence of Sheikha Fatima in Emirati women and enhances their position at the forefront and leading roles given the importance of their achievements in the past 50 years and the next 50 years.

Buhumaid added that Emirati women lead a social, economic and development role and perform their family and community tasks wisely and competently, noting that the UAE government is very keen to adhere to the vision of leadership, promote and support the empowerment of women who occupy more than 70% of the total senior and leadership positions in the Ministry of Community Development.

She said, “We are also proud that more than 90% of domestic and micro projects supported by the Ministry are led by women in ‘Al Sanaa’ initiative for Emirati productive families.”

She added that Emirati women’s indelible imprints are seen in wide areas, including space and advanced technology, in senior positions and diplomatic corps, in the UAE armed forces and national service, in the fields of aviation, renewable and clean energy, engineering, medicine and education, as well as in entrepreneurship and private sector.

“All these facts give Emirati women the right to lead, inspire and continue to work and create for a sustainable future, embodying the theme of this year’s Emirati Women’s Day,” concluded the Minister of Community Development.
