Amman, The Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) on Saturday launched an online platform intended to provide exporters with information regarding technical controls and rules needed to be met for export eligibility to foreign markets.
The development and roll-out of the platform is part of the Quality Infrastructure for the Promotion of Trade and Consumer Protection, funded by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Director of the Industrial Development Department in the ACI, Fadl Labadi, said the first phase covers the technical requirements for exporting garments, textiles, natural cosmetics and electrical home appliances to the European Union markets, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China.
He pointed out that the chamber has been working for years to design and implement a number of specialized initiatives and programs that directly contribute to developing the quality and competitiveness of national products, including a program designed to help national factories obtain international certifications for quality, environment and safety management systems.
Bernd Kuzmits, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in Amman, stressed that developing the private sector is necessary to support the Jordanian economy, explaining that the most prominent challenges facing Jordanian exports are the lack of information about destination markets, laws and legislation in the targeted countries.
