Doha, The fifth day of the annual festival of Arabian Thoroughbred Camel Race for the sword of HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani continued today. The competition is organized by the Camel Racing Organizing Committee and takes place in Al Shahaniya camel race track.

The competition is seven days long and will conclude Friday. A host of competitors from across the GCC took part this year. There were a total of 30 races that took place today, the fifth day of the competition. In the morning round, Tawabe’ of Abdullah Mohammed Al Mansoori came first and won a Toyota station wagon VX-R. Second and third place were for the camels belonging to Eid Abdullah Al Mansouri and Said Mohammed Al Muhairi respectively. The second and third places earn prize money of QR25 thousand and QR20 thousand respectively.

In the afternoon sessions, Ma’araka of Hamad Ghanem Al Kuwari won first prize. He received a silver dagger trophy and QR500 thousand in prize money. Second place was for Maleeha, owned by Mohammed bin Hamad Al Attiyah. He received QR250 thousand in prize money. The third place was for the camel belonging to Khalifa bin Hamad Al Attiyah. The third placed-finish is awarded QR150 thousand in prize money.
