Financial Analyst to QNA: Purchases of Gulf Portfolios Introduced Dynamism to QSE

Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index closed this week’s trading down by 0.91 percent, losing 97.88 points, and thus retreating to the level of 10,643 points, under pressure from the transportation sector, the real estate sector, and the services and consumer goods sector.

In his reading of QSE’s performance during the current week, Financial Analyst Tamer Hassan said that QSE index during the current week interacted with a number of internal and external elements, expecting to break the barrier of 11,000 points during the next week, provided that the leading stocks adjust their direction to the upside.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency , Hassan explained that trading values during the current week played a pivotal role in the performance of the index, pointing out that Gulf portfolios contributed to introducing dynamism to the market, in addition to increasing the frequency of speculative operations on shares from outside the index sample.

The financial analyst expected that an atmosphere of optimism would prevail in emerging markets, including the Qatari market, in the coming period, with the end of the US debt ceiling crisis, which would reflect positively on the performance of the general index.

Revealing the rise in the industrial index by about 4.8 percent during the month of March will undoubtedly have positive effects on the listed companies, especially those operating in the industrial sector, he added, noting that the decision to open the capital of some listed companies for foreign ownership will in turn contribute to attracting foreign portfolios.

The weekly report of QSE revealed a decline in the market value at the end of the week’s trading, amounting to QR 628,595, compared to QR 629,008 in the previous session, while the value of stock trading recorded about QR 3.100 billion, through the sale of 1.099 billion shares, as a result of the implementation of 108,937 transactions in all sectors.
