GEAGEA MEETS UN’S WRONECKA, PUSHES FOR DECISIVE STANCE ON THORNY SOUTHERN BORDER ISSUE

Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, met on Wednesday with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, before leaving to New York, where she will present her annual report on the International Security Council’s Resolution 1701. During the meeting, Geagea called – via Wronecka – on the UN Secretary-General and UNIFIL leadership to “issue an honest and decisive decision over the thorny southern border issue.’ Geagea also touched on the “unresolved presidential file,’ and he made it clear that “the only solution lies in electing a new president for Lebanon who is capable of reshaping the authority and thus moving towards reform and addressing all outstanding issues.” Geagea then informed Wronecka about “the opposing team’s [Hezbollah] adherence to dialogue as per the conditions it proposes, with the aim of diverting attention and wasting valuable opportunities.’
