The government has ordered electricity companies not to disconnect power supply of defaulting subscribers for a month starting today, said Hala Zawati, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Zawati said the government decided to allow private sector companies to leverage a government-run fuel storage facility in the Madouna region, east of Amman, to supply and store fuel derivatives for a period of 3 months free of charge.
The minister assured that the Kingdom's oil derivatives and crude oil supply is sufficient for two to nine months.
She stressed that fuel stations and cooking gas distribution stores will carry on work as usual.
An operations room at the Energy and Mineral Regulatory Commission has been set up to monitor the supply chain, receive citizens' complaints and observations, and resolve them.
