HEALTH MINISTER WITHDRAWS LICENSE OF GARDERÊVE DAYCARE, PLEDGES ZERO TOLERANCE AGAINST CHILD ABUSE

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, on Tuesday announced the withdrawal of ‘GardeRêve’ daycare’s license in Jdeideh, following a horrific child abuse incident there. Tackling the matter, Abiad held a meeting in presence of the ministry’s Juvenile Protection Committee, with whom he discussed the procedures that must be imposed and implemented to prevent the recurrence of child abuse incidents. In a press conference held after the meeting, the Minister announced a number of measures to be adopted to prevent the reoccurrence of such incidents. Most importantly, he announced a ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ against any daycare that does not adhere to the required standards. ‘There will be no hesitation in taking the most severe punitive measures against daycares that fail to abide to the new measures,’ Abiad added.
