Heliotech unveils Phenom UAV helicopter

ABU DHABI, HelioTech, a new addition to the venture investment portfolio of Tawazun Council’s Strategic Development Fund (SDF), has revealed its flagship unmanned aerial vehicle concept for the non-civilian market, The Phenom, at IDEX 2023. The Phenom is a 2-ton unmanned aerial vehicle with coaxial rotors capable of handling various multi-mission types, including land and naval surveillance activities and tactical operations. The Phenom is expected to be produced under HelioTech’s non-civilian segment at its plant in Al Bateen Executive Airport Free Zone by the end of 2026.

HelioTech also showcased other product ranges developed for security purposes through the company’s non-civilian segment. These include the HT005nu, a long-endurance vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle with multiple configurations for various monitoring and security missions, as well as the HT130nu, a mid-weight helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle with coaxial technology that provides improved flight performance and efficiency.

Sultan Al Kaabi, Senior Adviser at SDF and Managing Director of HelioTech, expressed his excitement about the unveiling of Phenom, which he believes will be an impressive addition to the non-civilian segment due to its advanced capabilities for multi-mission requirements. The Phenom is a one-of-a-kind UAV that leverages advanced coaxial technology to deliver exceptional performance in the field, meeting complex and tactical requirements for customers. Al Kaabi stated that the Phenom concept is designed to carry payloads of up to 800kg with various configurations and has elite-level performance and endurance of up to 4 hours in its standard configuration and over 8 hours with auxiliary fuel tanks. HelioTech will design, develop, and manufacture this flagship UAV in the UAE, with the support of international partners, significantly contributing to the UAE’s defense industry capabilities.

Al Kaabi further noted that HelioTech’s other product ranges showcased at IDEX 2023 demonstrate the company’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies for security purposes. He added that the company looks forward to the positive impact these products will have for customers in fulfilling their strategic operational requirements.

Abdulla Nasser Al Jaabari, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of SDF and Chairman of HelioTech, also expressed his belief that Phenom and other products showcased by HelioTech at IDEX 2023 will generate significant interest in the market.
