Doha, – HH Sheikha Moza bint Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani wife of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani attended Wednesday the final of Jeem Cup, which was held today on Abdullah bin Khalifa stadium in Lekhwiya SC.
The final of the third edition of the cup was held between France and Morocco. The former won via penalty kicks 11-10, after the full 90 minutes ended in a 2-2 draw. HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali awarded the medals to the winner. Vice-President of Qatar Olympic Committee HE Sheikh Saoud bin Ali Al-Thani, and Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi also attended the final .
France were made to work hard for the win. They led 2-0 after the end of the first half and looked to be coasting to victory. Yet they were shocked by a Moroccan comeback that saw them score twice late on to take the match to penalty. Even then, the Moroccan players pushed France all the way to the end before ultimately losing 10-11.
HE the Minister of Culture had also awarded the bronze medals to Kuwait, who came third in the competition. (QNA)
