House association, Turkish envoy talk joint cooperation

Jordanian-Asia and Oceania Parliamentary Friendship Association discussed on Wednesday, with the Turkish Ambassador to Jordan, Ismail Armaz, parliamentary, tourism and educational cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, the association’s head, MP Abdul Rahim Al-Ma’aya, valued Turkey’s stances towards the Palestinian cause, especially after the recent Israeli war on Gaza Strip, and Ankara’s support for the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Al-Ma’aya called on reinstating free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries, enhancing joint trade exchange, and exchanging expertise, especially in the tourism, educational and parliamentary fields.

The association’s members, meanwhile, praised Jordanian -Turkish, calling on increasing the number of Turkish scholarships for Jordanian students, enhancing cultural exchange, and trade, tourism, medical and parliamentary relations.

The lawmakers also urged extending assistance to the Kingdom to address water shortages and implement Jordan’s “National Water Carrier” project.

The envoy, for his part, praised the bilateral relations, and development that Jordan witnessed in various fields, noting that his country supports the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and the Palestinian cause.

The diplomat said all the lawmakers’ observations will be channelled to his country’s concerned authorities for study.
