Dead Sea, The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoIT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies to cooperate in enhancing the capabilities of young technology workers and leaders in the Kingdom.
In the presence of the MoIT Minister, Muthana Gharaibeh, and Huawei rotating CEO Guo Ping, the MoU was signed by the Ministry’s Secretary General, Nader Thunibat, and Huawei General Manager of Huawei Technologies Jordan Zang Yang, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa.
Under the MoU, three Huawei academies will be established in cooperation with three state-run universities to provide advanced ICT education to 3,000 students and government employees for three years.
With this move, we have taken steps to make Jordan an advanced hub for telecommunications and information technology in the region,” said Gharaibeh in remarks following the signing of the MoU.
Gharaibeh noted the ministry appreciates Huawei’s efforts to develop the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom and Jordanian human resources skills working in the sector that serve international companies.
For his part, Ping said: The Jordanian government has a clear vision to integrate technology solutions with smart development and successful communities by creating a sustainable group of leaders who have the skills and capabilities to continue to drive progress in the Kingdom.
