The Industry and Trade Minister, Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar, directed the offices of industry and commerce in the capital’s secretariat and the provinces and their branches in the directorates to intensify field visits to the markets to monitor the implementation of the list price.
Al-Mutahhar confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the ministry will not allow any unjustified increases in the prices of basic food commodities and will take deterrent measures against violators to protect the citizen from exploitation and greed of some weak souls.
He pointed out that the ministry is continuing the process of correcting prices in accordance with the global market changes, which contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and blockade.
He also explained that three thousand and 871 violations were seized during Ramadan in the Municipality and the provinces, including 83 cases of closure, while 70 price and supply violations were referred to the Public Prosecution.
Al-Mutahhar pointed out the importance of the cooperation of the local authorities and the relevant authorities with the industry offices in the success of the field control campaigns, calling on citizens to report violations via the toll-free number 174.
