INTAJ: 5G technology will drive digital transformation

The fifth-generation of mobile internet connectivity (5G) is a critical component that will drive the digital transformation strategy, Deputy Chairman of INTAJ’s Board of Directors, Mahmoud Zaghalil said on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Zaghalil stressed that setting the launching of this technology on the government’s priorities for the next two years is a major step that will eventually stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, enable local companies to work in foreign markets and entice multinational corporations to locate in Jordan, mainly those in the fields of adopting and implementing entrepreneurship strategies, and support services.

“According to the World Bank estimates, the 10 percent accretion of broadband internet penetration will put in hand a 1.5 percent growth in the gross domestic product, which entails the swift transition to the 5G,” he added, pointing that this technology is commonly used in applications of high privacy, most notably the medical and industrial ones, along with the Internet of Things (IoT) and the smart cities.
