President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, returned to Tehran today, Friday, after a three-day visit to Iraq.
The Iranian President began his visit to Iraq last Wednesday morning, his first after assuming the presidency at the official invitation of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
The Iranian President held talks with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and met with his counterpart Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, as well as Acting Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi, Ammar al-Hakim, and leaders and members of the Coordination Framework.
Pezeshkian visited the Kurdistan Region on Thursday morning, where he met with senior officials in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah to discuss strengthening relations between the two sides.
The President of the Islamic Republic also visited the shrine of the Commander of the Faithful Ali (PBUH) in Najaf on Thursday evening, before heading to the holy city of Karbala.
On Friday morning, the third day of his visit to Iraq, Pezeshkian headed to Basra an
d met with its governor and a group of elites, university students, and tribal leaders in the province.
