Irbid exports stand at $115 million last September-ICI

The total value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) last September 2021 nealy reached $115 million, compared to $85.4 million during the same period last year, marking an increase of nearly 34.7%, according to a ICI statement Sunday.

The value of Al Hassan Industrial Estate’s exports stood at $104 million, followed by Cyber City with exports amounting to $9 million, while the remaining exports went to the other governorate regions, the statement added.

The textile and leather sector came first in exports with a value of $105 million, followed by the medical and pharmaceutical industries sector with $4 million exports, the engineering industries by about $2 million, and foodstuffs with a similar value, the statement noted.

Meanwhile, exports of the chemical and cosmetics industries reached $1.5 million and the remaining exports included plastic, construction, packaging, cardboard and mining industries, according to the ICI.

The US was the biggest importer, with revenues that reached $91, followed by Arab countries, which imported commodities worth of $7.5 million, then came Canada by about $1 million, and European countries by $5.5 million, while approximately $9 million of the governorate’s exports went to various international markets, the statement showed.

ICI Head, Hani Abu Hassan, said the sectors’ resumption of operations and opening of air, land and sea crossings contributed to increasing the governorate’s exports “in this way,” in addition to the process of industries’ modernization and development, making them “more competitive” in the global market.
