Italy to provide Tunisia with USD 11 million

Italy has allocated USD 11 million worth of aid for Tunisia to support its efforts against irregular immigration and human trafficking.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in a statement on Thursday that the aid would be given to Tunisia for bolstering its combat of human trade.

The foreign ministry said that Tajani ordered the earmarking of USD 11 million including USD 7.2 million for purchasing equipment operated in the irregular immigration.

Italy has for some time provided Tunis with equipment needed for staging regular sea patrols.
