JFDA tests 187,000 food, medicine specimens in 6 month0073

Staff at Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) laboratories have tested 187,000 samples of food, medicine and medical supplies over the first half of the year.

JFDA Director General Nizar Mhaidat said in a statement Monday that his institution’s “qualitative” efforts continued building a lab quality system that meets the ISO 17025:2017 international standards and ensures food and drug efficacy through issuing reliable results.

The accreditation for tests, he pointed out, is periodically renewed and expanded at the national and global levels by the National Accreditation Unit that is recognized by the International Accreditation Organization (IAO) to enhance the accuracy and quality of laboratory reports.

Dairy products and grains and legumes topped the list of most analyzed samples, at 21 percent and 19 percent, respectively, of total samples handled by the food laboratory.
