Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Tuesday, inveighed against an attack carried out by the Israeli police against worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Haram Al Sharif compound in occupied Jerusalem and the arrest of a number of them.

Spokesperson of the Ministry, Deifallah al-Fayez, said that the attack on the worshippers by Israeli forces constitute a violation of the international law as Israel disregards its commitments as the occupying power, urging Israeli authorities to respect the sanctity of the holy site and the freedom and safety of worshippers.

Al-Fayez also condemned the Israeli occupation forces for setting wooding and steel posts at the southern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, demanding Israeli forces to immediately remove them.

The Jerusalem Awqaf Department (JAD) is the sole institution responsible for administrating the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque under the international law, he stressed.

He also warned of the consequences of continuous Israeli violations against the holy Mosque and worshippers, calling for halting such actions and respecting the historical and legal status quo in the city.
