Jordan expresses support for Egypt, Sudan over dam issue

Jordan’s foreign ministry Wednesday reiterated the water security of Sudan and Egypt is “part and parcel” of the wider Arab national security, expressing full support for Cairo and Khartoum.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasised in a statement the need to realise a solution based on negotiations over Ethiopia’s Renaissance Dam in a way that would guarantee the right of all parties to the Nile River.

It warned of unilateral actions and the filling of the Dam without an agreement based on the international law.

Cairo and Khartoum’s effort to resolve the issue through negotiations reflect their commitment to share the Nile River fairly to eschew tension and promote cooperation.
