Cairo, Jordan handed over the presidency of the 51st session of the Arab Health Ministers Council to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Health Minister Ghazi Al Zaben highlighted in a speech the importance of avoiding conflicts and their repercussions and exert further efforts to enhance health work and prevent the spread of epidemics.

"The Arab Health Ministers Council has been able through wisdom to address health challenges through various decisions," he said, adding that efforts will continue to achieve more accomplishments for the interest of the Arab nation.

He said the session is being held in a critical time due to the unstable political conditions in a number of Arab countries that reflected negatively on the economic, health and social conditions in these countries.

Today's meeting, he added, focused on a number of important issues such as health insurance, maternity health and other health related issues.
