Jordanian-Tunisian action team to support trade exchange launched-ACI head

Head of Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), Fathi Jaghbir, announced an agreement to form a high-level action team to study the possibilities of trade integration with Tunisia and come up with commodities lists with “high” export potentials in the two countries.

In an ACI press statement on Wednesday, Jaghbir said the team will work on holding a series of bilateral discussions to the two countries’ business communities and organize trade exhibitions in the “near” future.

Jaghbir made the remarks following his working visit to Tunisia, adding that the Jordanian delegation, who participated in the official inauguration of European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) Social Dialogue Project, held bilateral meetings with the counterpart private sector organizations aimed to strengthening economic relations and trade exchange.

During their Tunisia visit, the delegation visited Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunisia (CCIT), where the two chambers agreed to arrange a set of promotional activities for Jordanian and Tunisian products in the two countries alternately to enable businesspeople to get acquainted with the trade exchange opportunities available in the two countries, according to Jaghbir.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen coordination with the two countries’ governments to remove administrative obstacles that impede flow of goods between Jordan and Tunisia and activate the joint agreements, he pointed out.

In turn, Jordan’s ambassador to Tunisia, Maher Tarawneh, said talks also reflected shared stances to boost investments and benefit from bilateral agreements to enable Jordanian companies to strengthen their presence in the European markets, the statement said.
