Abu Dhabi, Jordan's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Juma al-Abbadi, affirmed the Kingdom's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in promoting values of tolerance globally.
On the sidelines of his participation in the Global Conference of Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi, Al-Abbadi told Petra that this event is important as it is being held in conjunction with the historic visit of the Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb to the UAE.
Al-Abbadi recalled Jordan's efforts and its Hashemite leadership in promoting harmony and spreading the culture of tolerance and the true image of Islam, and the historic visits of the Vatican's popes to the Kingdom from 1964 until 2014.
He stressed that the Pope's current visit to the UAE, which brings him together with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, is of particular importance in light of the UAE's declaration of 2019 as a year of tolerance.
