Jordan’s ASU ranks 1st on THE ranking

The Applied Science Private University (ASU) ranked first on the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings of Arab Universities.

ASU President, Iman Bashiti told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that publishing than 500 research papers in the university’s fields of studies over the past five years constitutes key requirements to qualify and participate in this ranking.

Bashiti pointed out that the THE ranking of Arab universities for this year is the first of its kind and includes all universities in the Arab world.

This ranking is based on five main pillars: reputation in the field of education, the ratio of students to faculty members, the university’s income to the number of faculty members, in addition to the percentage of doctoral graduates from the university.

The pillars also include research in terms of: research reputation, income from research compared to faculty members and number of research (33 percent), citation from research (20 percent), community relations (6 percent), and international relations (8 percent).

Bashiti added that research policies and educational strategies adopted and followed by the ASU had a clear impact on its qualification to enter this ranking, and obtaining the first place.
