KFAED pays visit to developmental project for Syrian refugees at Arbat Camp, Iraq

A delegation from Kuwait’s Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) visited Thursday a project site in Iraq’s northern province of Kurdistan.

The project, of restructuring the water system, aims to better the living conditions of Syrian refugees in Arbat camp.

The delegation was invited to attend the inauguration of a refugee enlistment center at Bahrka municipality and services around 160,000 refugee, read a statement issued by the fund.

The project, part of Kuwait’s vows at the third Brussels’ conference, aims to raise capacity of water storage, enhance the distribution system.

The statement further detailed that projects comes as part of prior agreement with The UN’s general commission, through which the fund presented a USD 2.6 million grant.

The statement reported on behalf of the fund’s director, Waleed Al-Bahar, as saying that Kuwait has been extending a helping hand to those afflicted all over the globe, especially Syrian refugees, to ease their suffering, provide them with urgent aid and ensure a better lifestyle.

Camp director Bayan Salam, voiced his appreciation for the delegation, spoke briefly on the camp and its facilities, and presented the camp’s most pressing needs as it houses more than 9,000 refugees.

At the end of the visit, the fund’s director honored Salam, and other officials for their extensive efforts.
