Frankfurt (dpa) – Lufthansa has enhanced its business class, with
many long-distance connections now featuring a new restaurant
service, where passengers are attended to by personal flight
Included are A380 flights from New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston,
San Francisco, Delhi, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul and
Johannesburg to Frankfurt and return.
Starting on October 1, the service will be extended to the German
airline’s Boeing 747 flights out of Frankfurt, with A340 flights out
of Frankfurt and Munich to Asia and the Middle East getting the
upgrade starting from October 25.
The new business class service has already been tested on about 130
flights. Passengers should get the feeling of being in a restaurant.
The flight attendant introduces themself by name, takes the
traveller’s order and sets the table with china and cutlery.
The food will be carried directly from the galley to the seat, as
there will be no more trays or food carts in business class.
The new service is seen as a bid to match similar offerings by the
Gulf airlines such as Emirates and Etihad. Lufthansa aims to qualify
as the first five-star airline based in Europe or North America.
