Maitha Al Shamsi receives Minister of Women and Gender Equity of Chile

ABU DHABI, Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, received Monica Zalaquett, Minister of Women and Gender Equity in Chile, in the presence of Jorge Daccarett, Chile’s Ambassador to the UAE.

The meeting addressed the distinguished ties between the two countries and ways of strengthening them by exchanging expertise, most notably in areas of women, children and family.

The two sides discussed several issues relating to women’s skills development, supporting them to address challenges and boost their participation and representation in the public and private sectors.

Dr. Al Shamsi stated that the wise leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is keen to boost bilateral ties. In addition, she highlighted the prominent role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), in empowering women, boosting their role in raising generations and participating in the country’s development process.

She highlighted Sheikha Fatima’s role in strengthening family stability and supporting women.

Monica Zalaquett lauded the achievements of the UAE in all areas of development. She commended Sheikha Fatima’s role in women’s empowerment and strengthening their political and economic engagement.

She stressed her country’s keenness to promote mutual cooperation, women’s empowerment and protection from domestic violence.
