Ministry of Endowments Announces Theme of 16th Session of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani International Endowment Prize

The Department of Islamic Research and Studies at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced the theme of the 16th session of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani International Endowment Prize.

Director of the Islamic Research and Studies Department Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Thani explained that the research topic of the 16th session of the Prize will be “jurisprudence of social relations in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran”.

He noted that the Research and Islamic Studies Department has specified a set of important axes for the Prize in order to set the theoretical framework for the theme and define the required items in the research, including defining and explaining the title and the terms equivalent to it; the status, importance and overall purposes of the stories of the Holy Quran in Islamic law; the historical miracle in the Quranic stories and its impact on the development of the social aspects of human life; the foundations of social relations and their components in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran; sections and types of social relations in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran; the impact of the stories of the Holy Quran in deriving rulings from the fundamentalist and jurisprudential perspectives; the legitimate purposes of social relations in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran; jurisprudential rules for social relations in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran; the impact of the stories of the Holy Quran in organizing social relations in society; contemporary issues related to social relations in the light of the stories of the Holy Quran; a proposed plan to organize and develop social relations in the light of contemporary reality; and recommendations and conclusion.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Thani explained that Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani International Endowment Prize was launched by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in 1998, to become the first and largest court endowment award in the field of culture, advocacy and Islamic thought in the State of Qatar. The Prize bears the name of former ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani to honor his memory and recognize his role in spreading knowledge, reviving Islamic heritage, and caring for scholars and researchers.

He noted that the Prize is supported financially through the endowments of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani.

The theme of the 16th Session of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani International Endowment Prize was “social solidarity and its role in achieving community security”.
