MoL to Organize Government Forum to Combat Trafficking in Persons in Middle East on Tuesday

The activities of the government forum for combating trafficking in persons in the Middle East will begin on Tuesday under the title “”Combating Trafficking in Persons in Tourist Seasons, a Focus on Sports Events”, under the auspices of HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri.

The conference, organized by the Ministry of Labour represented by the National Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking, in coordination with the Permanent General Secretariat of the Governmental Forum to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Middle East, will discuss the difficulties, advancements, and recent progress in combating human trafficking within Middle Eastern nations. Furthermore, participants will exchange knowledge and successful approaches while exploring methods to strengthen and enhance the skills of individuals working in the field of combating human trafficking. The fourth session of the Forum is a continuation of the achievements of the previous sessions, with the participation of Their Excellencies, Ministers and heads of the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America, and the United Kingdom, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The conference, which will be held from May 16-17, will discuss issues related to forms of human trafficking during the tourist attraction seasons, in addition to showcasing some experiences in the Middle East region regarding combating human trafficking issues and endeavors to reduce them.

A group of international and regional experts specialized in combating human trafficking and representatives of the committees concerned with combating human trafficking in the member states of the Permanent General Secretariat of the Government Forum to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Middle East will participate in the conference.
